Football tickets

Well it here it is again...the time of year when students have to attempt to get season football tickets for next year. Fortunately/Unfortunately, I won't have to go through this process again. I'm sure you UAA kids have talked about this topic more than you ever wanted to, but I figured Id post it anyways. Is there really no better way to set the system up here than to have kids spend hours at a time on their cell phones rackin up minutes and usually not even getting through? I know we have done an online lottery for the UGA game in the past, but apparently that wouldnt work for overall tickets. After looking around this thing they call the Internet, I came across a policy that I liked.

http://www.wvu.edu/football_tickets/

As you can read, West Virginia has an online registration system.

"1.1.2 Currently enrolled, athletic-fee paying WVU students are eligible to receive one (1) ticket each to football home games.

1.1.3 Once athletic-fee paying students log-in, depending on their status, they will select a ticket in one of the following areas: Maniacs (for fee-paying Maniac members in good standing); Senior Spirit Section 121 (for students who have achieved senior status of 89 plus credit hours or who are graduate or professional students that have paid the necessary fee); or Upper Deck or Lower Deck (open to all students)."

If the demand for tickets exceeds the number of tickets offered, they immediately go to a "Loyalty Distribution" system. The year of schol that you are in and the number of games that you have attended adds to your loyalty points. it seems very simple to me. It might suck for some freshmen out there, but thats the breaks. I remember having friends who couldnt go to games their senior year after not missing a game for 3 years and it really isnt fair. I'll be interested to hear some other thoughts on what technology is out there that has been researched by UAA.

Yeah, I like the rules at WVU. I don't know what the deal is, but the UAA has got to have a better way of selling tickets. I remember being told the number of available phone lines for the UGA game. I can't remember how many there were, but it was a ridiculously small amount. It seems that this lottery system that has been in place for the last couple years has worked, however, because practically everyone that enters receives tickets...right? The system that was reallllly bad was the one in place the first couple years I was in school here where you would have to call, wait on the phone for hours, and probably not get through. Or some people majestically got through several times when you never got through once. What we need to be discussing is how fb tickets are now $80 due to some crazy "handling" fee. I swear this school/UAA is trying everything they can to nickel and dime the students of this university. I could talk forever on this one, so it's probably best I wrap it up now...:)

Alright...first let's quit bashing the UAA's ticketing system. Yes, sometimes it doesn't seem fair to you guys, but can yo come up with a better plan? Sure in theory the West Virginia ticketing system sounds pretty good to you guys, but they are WEST VIRGINIA! We are the University of Florida, who until last year, only charged $7 per game! Get over it! As our team does better, the demand for tickets goes up. It's just how it goes. I believe our student ticket system is just fine right now. You are put in a lottery system and the number credit hours you have determine whether or not you receive tickets.

People think that bowl games and FL/GA tickets should be done the same way. And maybe that is true, but right now the call in system is what we have. Who knows if it will change. All I know is that I get tickets everytime and I love it.

I'm sure the fact that Sam works for the UAA has nooooothing to do with her getting "tickets every time and loving it" (See Grant Register's trips to each of the last 3 National Championship games UF has been in in the last year).
